William has had a busy year working with a number of artist and ensembles. Including work with the FYRA string quartet performing Peter Sculthorpes' Earth Cry at the Griffith University Graduation Ceremony at the QPAC Concert Hall in Brisbane.

 

Another highlighted moment was being artist in residence at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne. William worked with Piano extraordinaire Donna Coleman who is Head of Keyboard Music at the VCA. Workshops throughout the week consisted of demonstrations of the didgeridoo in a contemporary use and William also spoke of the instrument’s traditional aspects and certain techniques that are used for various occasions.

 

At the end of the residency William performed with Donna Coleman on Friday afternoon at 1:00 the 2nd May 2003 at the Iwaki Auditorium of ABC Southbank Centre to a live studio audience which was broadcast live over ABC Classic FM to a national audience and also to people around the world, via Simultaneous streaming on the web: www.abc.net.au/classic

 

 

 

This performance was a ground breaking collaboration where Donna played Bach on piano and William joined with didgeridoo creating a fusion of classical works with traditional Australia.

 

Closing the concert was Donna on Piano with guest artist John Scurry on banjo the piece performed was - Le banjo, Grotesque Fantasie (esquisse amèricaine)  - William joined with didgeridoo towards the end of the piece closing with the sound of Australia.
